In
years gone by I used to offer healership programs that developed
four basic themes: the skills of Advanced Energy Healing; personal
evolution through healing and spiritual enlightenment; the
requirements of ethical spiritual healership; and advice on
developing a healing practice somewhat like my own.
This
was a similar approach to most schools of energy healing and
apprenticeship programs where personal transformation occurs while
skills are taught and students are expected to show they can
adequately perform the activites of the modality by the end of the
program. These schools are very good at providing the basics but
they can leave people hanging when it comes to actually setting up
practice as healers in the broader community. Many people have
trouble mastering the specific skills even though they are
committed to their path as spiritual healers, while other people
may have great skills but no confidence they can create a
successful business. In either case the person is left with a
feeling of having worked hard and accomplished a lot, but not
confident they can turn it all into a succesful healing practice.
As
a teacher I became frustrated by this approach to developing
healership. I realized that no two students are even vaguely alike
and no healing modality could possibly fit everyone who studied
it. I observed that few of my students could master the skills
that came naturally to me, while I hadn’t mastered all the
skills taught me by my original teachers either. I had seen a lot
of frustration in students at the schools where I studied and I
was seeing it among my own students as well. I observed that each
person had unique strengths and weaknesses, talents and passions
and that no one was exactly like the teacher, or even much like
the teacher at all. I realized that everyone has a unique
energetic template and as healers we each offer a unique
combination of skills and talents to our clients. This feels
important to me as it enables clients to be drawn toward a
particular healer based on the person’s integrity and abilities
rather than their completion of some prescribed program of study.
As
a result of my insights I eventually stopped teaching skill and
healership programs entirely. However, students were still eager
for the discipline available in a program geared to developing
healership and for the feedback available from the grounded
spiritual and energetic framework in which I work. So I have
initiated this new mentoring program designed to help students
discover their own unique place in the world of healers while
grounding their skills in a structured and spiritually ethical
professional practice. This mentoring program continues to be
based in Advanced Energy Healing and Energy Awareness, but invites
and embraces cross-fertilization with any other modality. Rather
than prescribe which workshops the program must entail, the choice
is left up to the students. They are free to choose any or all of
my own workshops as well as any trainings in other modalities that
suit them. Finally, this mentoring program also supports students
through the processes of creating a business and marketing
themselves as healers in their own communities.
