is such a central part of life that it would be difficult to imagine
what the world would be like without it. No doubt our capacity to
experience and express love, courage, hope, determination,
reverence, and wonder at the mystery of existence is closely
interwoven with our capacity for song, movement, rhythm, and the
deeply satisfying organization of sound we call music. It could be that of all of the avenues available to us for
flowing coherently back to our source and onward to our realization
music is the most alive, the most useful, and the one most easily
taken by anyone. Unencumbered by language, by thought, by systems of
beliefs, music is made of precisely what we are made of —
beautifully organized and proportioned vibration.
The
work of this path is to enable us, whether we think of ourselves as
musicians or not, to bring music in any of its many forms and
flavors into our daily lives as a ground of spiritual practice. So
in this workshop we will play with music in a variety of ways —
from pure listening to musical games and improvisations. You do not
need to play an instrument (although if you have one, please bring
it) because our emphasis will not be on teaching musical skills, but
rather on aligning ourselves with the profound delight of the sound
of truth, goodness, beauty. Led by
